The TradElect trading system
TradElect is a stable and efficient platform for equities trading. It was purpose-built to deliver a high quality, reliable and resilient trading and information service to customers. The system offers flexibility not only for future changes in requirements and additional functionality, but also for increases in capacity and enhancements to response times (latency).
The system was developed by the LSEG. It currently operates the markets of the London Stock Exchange, Borsa Italiana and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, in addition to Oslo Børs.
InfoLect, the real-time system for market data, is an integrated part of TradElect.
Low latency
TradElect supports a diverse client base & trading strategies; provides greater execution assurance leading to reduction in the opportunity cost of missed executions.
High capacity
Being part of a larger market makes it possible for participants to share a larger buffer of spare capacity. This offers plenty of ‘head room’ for participants to execute business without system slow down, even in peak trading periods. UDP multicast reduces network bottleneck.
Reliability
TradElect is based on robust, purpose-built technology that is designed to never lose a message; sub-millisecond disaster recover and full active-active processing at two sites.
Scalability
It is easy to add hardware to the system; short lead time to increase capacity.
New opportunities
It is easy to add new segments and sectors to the system, which enables new products and services to be introduced to the market more quickly; ability to respond quickly to market demands and rapidly changing customer needs.
Efficiency
TradElect handles an increasing range of order types, e.g. hidden pegged orders (2009), basket orders and parked orders which improve efficiency for traders.
Control & transparency
The market/participant structure enables firms to segregate different areas of their business or types of flow.
Cross-access
Operating multiple markets on a single platform creates potential for access and tradability across markets and asset classes.
